The Crafting Cottage began it's journey in a beautiful 1916 historic Dutch Colonial house located at 11915 East Corning Road in Corning, New York We opened our doors on May 20, 2003. Back then, we were five rooms filled with an assortment of basic needs for scrapbookers and rubber stampers.
Over the course of the next few years we expanded the store at the original site. We even renovated the old Carriage House into a beautifully new spacious classroom.
In the Spring of 2007, we expanded by opening a satellite store on historic Market Street in downtown Corning, NY. At the Market Street location (103 West Market Street) you will find a dedicated bead shop on the first floor. We also had housed a "mini" version of The Crafting Cottage on the 2nd floor until the spring of 2008.
In June of 2008, we moved out of the second floor and into our very own building just a couple blocks down from our bead shop (38 East Market Street). A wonderful yarn shop, Wooly Minded, moved above our Bead Shop.
On December 31, 2008, we sold the beading division to Beth Cole, who renamed it, Beth's Bead Shop & Gallery. However, unexpectedly, we inherited the bead shop inventory back in September of 2010 when Beth no longer wished to own her bead store.
In June of 2009, we made the decision to simplify all of our lives by moving the East Corning store to our 38 E. Market Street store. Corning, New York
In May of 2011, we purchased the building at 32 East Market Street which was the former Fat Cats Jazz bar and restaurant. Due to a serious flood that happened in 2005, there was much work needed to be done to the building.
As of today, November 21, 2011 - we are still renovating the 32 East Market Street building and hope to be open at the start of the New Year, 2012!
In the meantime, we are temporarily set up at our former bead shop building located at 103 West Market Street.
We sold 38 East Market Street in November of 2011.
