Updates on The Crafting Cottage
July 8, 2008
Summer brings fresh new fun and adventures for The Crafting Cottage Family!
Tiffany will be traveling to Chicago in about ten days to attend the CHA Summer show there. The Craft and Hobby Association's big Trade Show and Conference is a fantastic way for us to see what new products will be unveiled as well as to attend some seminars to help us learn more about our crafting industry.
Tiffany will be placing some orders with new companies as well as placing orders with some of our favorite companies. We anticipate these orders to start arriving by the end of August - or at the very least in mid-September for most of the Christmas themed products.
With all of our fingers crossed, we are hoping to be closing on a new building to continue our expansion plans this week. Once we have the keys and deed in our hands, we will gladly share the joyous news. In the meantime, Barb has been very busy making plans for the new store.
Georgia has been working very hard at getting the East Corning Crafting Cottage back to it's original "roots." Slowly, but surely, she has been moving products out of the Carriage House back into the cottage. She has reclaimed the second floor of the cottage for products. It won't be too long before the Carriage House returns to it's original purpose which is to be the main workshop/classroom and cropping room!
We did successfully close on our exclusive lease of a beautiful and very special cottage on Seneca Lake. The previous owner was herself a crafter and loved to make her own cards. When you sit in the large living room overlooking Seneca Lake, you can see how inspiring the view is.
We are in the process of making several major repairs to the property which will then allow us to host intimate crafting retreats. The Cottage will be available for private retreats when not in use. We plan to post "Before", "During" and "After" pictures on the website.
Keep checking back here for the latest......it certainly is an interesting journey.

For those new to what has been happening at The Crafting Cottage, here is a quick version:
We were supposed to move to a new location starting May 15, 2008.
The deal fell through at the "Midnight Hour".
The deal fell through at the "Midnight Hour".
As such, we have had to regroup and work to find a new location.
In the meantime, since we had already promised our 2nd floor store (located at 103 West Market Street) to a another business, Wooly Minded, we had to move all of our scrapbooking, paper, rubber stamps, Creative CafeŽ and more out by June 1st.
We are currently packing up that store's goodies and moving them back "home" to our Main Store which is located at:
11915 East Corning Road in Corning, NY.
Barb Thompson (Manager of the Market Street location of The Crafting Cottage) will be having fun creating some new and exciting events and classes which will take place out in East Corning. We are setting up the Creative CafeŽ out on the Sun Porch. It will be gorgeous and full of creative adventures for all. We also anticipate moving several products back up to the second floor of the Cottage (Yeah! for all of you who said you missed going upstairs!!!)
Georgia Grosstephan, East Corning Manger, was not thrilled when the deal fell through as she had spent days and days packing up the Main Store for the move. As such, Georgia is going to help Barb move back home and continue packing up and organizing for our (eventual and hopefully sooner than later) move to a brand new and larger location!
The Bead Shoppe is unaffected by any of this (thank goodness!)
The Bead Shoppe will remain on the first floor of 103 West Market Street in beautiful historic downtown Corning, NY.

Thank you to all of you who continuously remind us why you appreciate what we do. Believe me, there are many days when we need to hear it.
