Better Housing Remembers Mildred Smith
The staff of Better Housing would like to extend their condolences to Mildred Smith’s family. We first had the pleasure of meeting Mildred in 1982 when she became the first resident of Juniper Manor I. Her grandchildren shared many fond stories with Sue Roenke, Juniper Manor’s Site Manager, about their grandmother and life at Juniper Manor. Mildred lived at Juniper Manor for 26 years and worked for Better Housing as the Resident Clerk for some time. In this position Mildred acted as the representative for the tenants and worked with our management team.
In the last few years Mildred lived with her son but still came to Juniper Manor every Wednesday to have her hair done. Better Housing staff members will always remember Mildred as an extraordinary woman who went out of her way to put others first. Everyone at Juniper Manor and Better Housing will truly miss her witty humor and dynamic personality. If you would like to read more about Mildred please visit The Ithaca Journal
